Obituary of William E. Amburgy

AMBURGY, William E. "Earl" age 91 of South Lebanon, Ohio passed peacefully Friday, February 24, 2017 at Pine Ridge Nursing Care in Morrow, Ohio with his family by his side. Born May 22, 1925 in Owsley County, Kentucky, Earl was the son of Cuba and Effie (nee Spencer) Amburgy and was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Earl was a proud U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. Earl was self-employed and was known as "the brick layer in white shoes". Earl enjoyed dancing (he had a wood floor installed in his garage) just for dancing) and his restaurant of choice was Frisch's in Lebanon, Ohio. Earl enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports and was well known for his famous peanut butter fudge he made and brought to the sport events. Earl and Kathleen along with his daughter Tammy Smith were all saved February 24 , 2002 approximately 15 years prior to his passing. Preceded in death by his parents, first wife Kentucky "Kay" Amburgy and brothers Virgil, Willard & Russell and sisters Jean and Ona; Earl leaves behind his wife Kathleen Amburgy of South Lebanon, Ohio; sons Tim, Terry, Tom, Ted, Tracey, Todd and Toby Amburgy; daughters Tammy Smith, Teresa Tindle and Trina Cook; stepchildren Blaine, Robert and Nanette McCleese, Beulah Cropenbaker and Della Spivey; brother Bob Amburgy; sisters Sue, Ina, Eula, Rose and Linda; twenty nine grandchildren, eleven stepgrandchilden; nineteen great-grandchildren with one great grandchild on the way and twenty three step great-grandchildren; his K9 companion Earlene and many other family members and friends. The family will receive friends Saturday, March 4, 2017 from 10am until 12pm at the First Baptist Church of South Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at the church at 12pm with burial to follow in the Miami Cemetery, Corwin, Ohio.
