I am sorry to hear of Wynn's passing. He was always good to me and had the respect of every soldier that knew him. Wynn saw some bad things in Vietnam and he couldn't forget them; so it is with many a soldier. He was a good Captain to work with and a good friend. Let him rest in peace now, his work is done. He will be missed and I salute Wynn Hayes, one of "The Screaming Eagles!" AIRBORNE

Memories from Wynn's cousin, Carl (named after his Dad).
Remembering the day he was born - he has the same birthday as my brother, Fitch.
Remembering him living in Jackson, KY as a kid while we lived in nearby Quicksand.
Sadly, as kids, we lost that connection when his family moved to Hazard.
Years passed and we each traveled different paths but always felt the bond of family ties.
For both of us, we will also remember his warm smile. Always friendly and smiling.
Our prayers are with the family
Carl & Darlene

My friendship with Wynn began at work over 37 years ago. He was a great friend and ally to have in that environment. As time went by that friendship went beyond work and had continued throughout our lives. He was not only my friend, but also a friend to my family. Myself and others could always count on a good laugh while in Wynn's presence. Even if the moment was serious he always seemed to try and lighten it at some point. You could always count on him to be ready to help defend you, as he seem to know no fear. If you were Wynn's friend no one could sway him from that position. I will miss his phone calls even if they may have sometimes been after midnight. During many of those calls he would simply ask how me or my family was, usually my dad, who he truly loved and respected, and then he'd say good night. One thing I could so often count on from Wynn was a short walk through some funny memory we shared from work, those I will dearly miss. He loved to laugh and reminisce, which always made my day or night better!!! Wynn always dearly loved his family and friends. As for me and my family we will always be thankful for having had him in our lives.

My dear cousin Wynn. So handsome, so sweet, so funny, and so lovable. He was always such a treasure in our family, actually my mother and father's favorite of all the mischievous little Hayes boys. Wynn was much loved and will be sorely missed.

Gary, Beverly and family. My heart is broken in the passing of Wynn. He loved his family, personal and professional. He was profoundly proud of his country and proud of his service to our country. A good soldier whose heart was always in the right place. Rest in peace my friend.
