I was extremely saddened to hear of Sandie's passing. I am a teacher at Fenwick. I have been here for 25 years. So my career overlapped with hers, much to my benefit. I remember many, many lunches spent with her, not wanting to go to my next class because we were enjoying ourselves so much. I was fortunate enough to go on several of the school's Kairos retreats with her. I have a favorite quote from her talks, "As John tells us 'God is love.' This is not a metaphor." I enjoyed our friendship and the love we both had for Monty Python. I consider her one of my mentors despite the fact that I teach math and she didn't. I learned from her wisdom. I tried to emulate her compassion for others. I will miss my friend.
