Obituary of Jon P. Appleby
APPLEBY, Jon P. age 70 of South Lebanon, Ohio and formerly of Bedford, Indiana passed peacefully Wednesday morning, September 2, 2015 at Hospice of Butler and Warren Counties with his family by his side. Born April 1, 1945 in Spencer, Indiana, Jon was the son John Elliott and Gretchen Leona (Maners) Appleby and was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.. Jon was a 1963 graduate of Spencer High School and earned his bachelor's degree in Business Accounting from Indiana University. Jon served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Jon was a retired telecommunications accountant, a member of the Warren County Historical Society and enjoyed music and antique furniture. Preceded in death by his parents and infant brother John Paul Appleby; Jon leaves behind his loving wife of 45 years Carol Jean Carmichael of South Lebanon, Ohio; son David (Cheryl) Appleby of Lebanon, Ohio; daughter Carrie Sample of Indianapolis, Indiana; sister Elizabeth Appleby-Hill (Kent) of Columbia City, Indiana; grandchildren Elijah and Isaiah Sample and Nathan, Jonathan and Lucy Appleby and many other family members and friends.
Calling hours will be held Saturday, September 5, 2015 from 11am until 1pm at the Stine Kilburn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 1pm with Chaplain Daniel Fullen officiating. Burial will follow in the Lebanon Cemetery, Lebanon, Ohio.
The family requests memorial donations be directed to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the Diabetes Association.
