Obituary of Albert Schroeder

SCHROEDER, Albert W. age 96 of Mason, Ohio passed peacefully Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at the West Chester Medical Center. Born November 15, 1915 in Cincinnati, Ohio, Albert was the son of William C. and Bertha Amanda (Schuster) Schroeder and a retired Batallion Chief with 34 years of service with the Cincinnati Division of Fire retiring in 1973. Albert's father Will Schroeder was also a firefighter with the Cincinnati Division of Fire and for two years they were both a rare firefighting father and son team. During his career, Al fought and survived hundred of fires and in retirement, he never tired of sharing stories from his fire service career with his grandchildren and anyone who would listen. With Al's passing, 103 years of family association with the Cincinnati Fire Department came to a close. Albert was a 75 year member of the Masonic Lodge and a loving husband, father and grandfather. Preceded in death by his parents, dear wife Marguerite (Brockhoff) Schroeder in 1990 and sister Helen Young; Albert leaves behind his sons William P. (Kathy) Schroeder of Maineville, Ohio and Raymond L. Schroeder of Texas; grandchildren Rebecca Sommers, Emily Boyle, Andrew Schroeder, Michael Schroeder, Monica Lindsell and Catherine Hewett; eleven great-grandchildren and many other family members. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 11:00am in the chapel at Mason Christian Village. Burial will follow in the Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati, Ohio.
