Barb was a dear friend of our sister, Mackey Patty, and was a constant support to her at many times. Mackey went home to be with The Lord in March of this year. Barb and some of her family shared her homegoing celebration with us. Barbara was a core member of our writers group at Chapters Bookstore.
We celebrated her 79th birthday at our meeting just last July 30.
She read her affirmation prayer "I am Blessed."
We will always remember: her song "Walking with Favor," poem "Dawn Bird," and illustrated Halloween story book, which she shared with us.
In Barbara's own words:
"We are ageless creatures. The funny feeling that we're younger or older than our body is the contrast between common sense and our consciousness. We (think we) ought to feel as old as our bodies - and the truth - (is) that our consciousness has no age at all. Our minds just can't put that together by any rules of space-time; so instead of trying other rules, just quit trying. Whenever we sense we're not the same age as our number, we say "weird feeling!" and change the subject. What if we don't change the subject? What's the answer? Don't label age. Don't say, "I'm seven" or "I'm ninety." (Then) There is nothing to contrast and the weird feelings are gone. "I'm ageless" she whispered - interesting - True. It works!" - Barbara Welles

Barb was a great cook and a loving mother. I know I will miss her but she has gone to a better place to be with the love of her life. Love you Barb. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers. P.S. say hi to Mom for me please.
