Obituary of Walter Henry Miller III

Walter was born and raised at Valley View Dairy in Lebanon, Ohio. The dairy was one of the many French Brothers dairies run by his grandfather, Arthur French. The French Brothers dairies were founded by his great grandfather Albert French and his brothers.  Walter ran a milk route for 17 years before starting his own woodworking business.

When attending Lebanon High School, he took farm shop instead of industrial arts and was always fixing things on the farm. After repairing some furniture for his milk customers, he decided he really enjoyed working with wood repairing and building things. This led to his decision to go to the Ohio College of Applied Science in Cincinnati.  In 1965, after completing two years of cabinet making and two years of advanced cabinet making, he opened Walt’s Wood Shop on route 63 just two miles west of Lebanon.

His pastimes were hunting, fishing, and sharp shooting. Friends were amazed at his ability to shoot an aspirin out of the air. He was active in the Queen City Trap and Skeet Club near Kings Island, even managing it for awhile. He won cash as well as numerous trophies at different trap shoots around the area including winning an event at the Grand American trap and skeet shoot in Vandalia in 1957.

He and his wife were active members of the Warren County Conservation Association, and in 1976 he was president of Caesars Creek Bass Masters of Lebanon. He was also a member of the Lebanon Lions Club and the Warren County Historical Society of Lebanon.  Preceded in death by hhis parents, loving wife Martha "Joann" Miller, grandson Walter Wayne Woods and brother-in-law Larry Childs, Walter leaves behind his daughter Regina (Mike) Hughes, brother Tom (Sandy) Miller, sisters Emma Childs and Mary (Charles) Carter; granddaughter Amanda Morningstar and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Warren County Historical Society, 105 S. Broadway, Lebanon, OH 45036, or the Warren County Conservation Association Hob Nature Center, 1815 South Sreet, Route 123, Lebanon OH, 45036.

The family will receive friends Thursday, January 31, 2019 from 11 am until time of service at Noon, all at the Stine Kilburn Funeral Home. Internment to follow in Lebanon Cemetery.
