Obituary of Janet Sue Kaufman

Janet Sue Kaufman, of Lebanon, OH passed away peacefully on March 2, 2017. She was born in Ross County of Ohio to Clark and Ardith Chaney (King) who precede her, and she was raised in Knockemstiff, OH. She is survived by her children, Dewayne Gordon of Lebanon, Latisha Long (Larry McAllister) of Clarksville, and a grandson Corry Gates; stepchildren William, Dick, and Chuck Kaufman of Lebanon, OH and Rosie Jhamb of New Jersey and Jim Gates on if whom she thought of as her son as well as nine step-grandchildren and 11 step-grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother Marvin E. Chaney (Sharon) of Henley, MO, sisters Teresa K. Chaney and Crystal J. Ball of Lebanon, OH and a sister-in-law Sue Chaney of Montezuma, GA. Her nieces and nephews Olivia (Russell) Forrester, Hillary Ball, James and Todd Chaney and great nephew Warren Forrester. Jan was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband William Robert Kaufman and a brother Dr. Jerry E. Chaney. Jan was retired and enjoyed life to its fullest. There was nothing that Jan could not do, or would not do for her family, friends, or even strangers. Throughout her life she devoted her time and her services to benefit others, whether it was giving money, giving her time, or both. She was a member of the Elks, the Eagles, the V.F.W., she helped the citizens of Lithuania as well as the Republican party. Jan was involved in several political campaigns throughout her life, of several Republicans such as George Voinovich, George Bush Sr., George Bush, Ronald Reagan and Mike DeWine. She was also a consultant for Lady Jill Knight of England. She was also instrumental in revising legislation concerning women’s rights within private and public spectrums. Like her husband Bob, Jan was a friend to all. She was a wonderful mother, a sister, a grandmother, a stepmother, an aunt and a treasure to her family and friends. If you needed a place to stay her home was open. If you were hungry, she fed you, if you were thirsty she would buy you a drink, if you needed someone to take you somewhere or spend the night with you at the hospital she was there. Whatever the need, if she was able to, she would provide it for you. Viewing hours for the friends and family of Jan will be from 5:00 to 8:00 on Thursday, March 9 at the Stine Kilburn Funeral Home, 801 Monroe Rd, Lebanon, OH.
