Obituary of Taylor H. Prater

PRATER, Taylor H. age 82 of Lebanon, Ohio passed peacefully Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at the Dayton VA Medical Center. Born July 9, 1933 in Hazard, Kentucky, Taylor was the son of Hiram and Ruth (Stidham) Prater and was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Taylor served his country proudly in the U.S. Army and was a graduate of Union College in Kentucky. Taylor was a retired teacher with the Kings Local School district and taught at the Middle School and JF Burns Elementary. During his spare time, Taylor enjoyed drawing and painting, restoring cars, fishing, animals and spending time with his family. Preceded in death by his parents and brother Cova Prater, Taylor leaves behind his loving wife of 57 yearsGladys (Witt) Prater of Lebanon, Ohio; son Jeff (Jennifer) Prater of Lebanon, Ohio, brother Thomas Prater of Kentucky, sister Betty Carol Prater-Lewis of Kentucky and grandson Colton Prater. The family will receive friends Saturday, May 14, 2016 from 11am until 1pm at the Stine Kilburn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 1pm with Pastor William Liston officiating. Burial with Military honors will follow in the Deerfield Cemetery, South Lebanon, Ohio.
