Obituary of Walter Steele

STEELE, Walter "Bud" age 89 of Lebanon, Ohio passed peacefully Thursday, October 22, 2015 at his residence surrounded by family. Born May 30, 1926 in Miamiville, Ohio, Walter was the son of Charles Lee and Anna (Wigginton) Steele and was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Walter was a graduate of Blanchester High School and served his country proudly during World War II in the U.S. Navy. Walter was a retired press operator from Johnson & Hardin Printing Company and was known for being a hard worker. Walter enjoyed traveling around the world and was very involved in his church. Walter was known for taking care of his elderly neighbors and will be fondly remembered for his loving and caring nature. Preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary Louella (nee Davenport) Steele in 2007, daughter Linda Rose Griffis, brothers Raymond and Clay Steele, sisters Stella Hayes, Hilda Timmons, Nellie Grimsley and Ruth Stenerson; Walter leaves behind his loving daughters Debra Lu (David) Carter of West Chester, Ohio, Vickie Jean (Larry) Baker of Lebanon, Ohio and Janet Lee (Robert "Shawn") Pearcy of Lebanon, Ohio; nine grandchildren and many other family members and friends. The family will receive friends Monday evening, October 26, 2015 from 6pm until 8pm at the Stine Kilburn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at 11am at the funeral home with Pastors David Lovely and Bill La Shelle officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Blanchester IOOF Cemetery, Blanchester, Ohio. The family appreciates memorial donations that are directed to the Wounded Warrior Project.
