Obituary of Jessie Jacobs

JACOBS, Jessie (Byrd) age 88 of South Lebanon, Ohio passed peacefully Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Born March 23, 1927 in Clay County, Kentucky, Jessie was the daughter of Roy and Gertie (Allen) Byrd. Jessie is preceded in death by her parents, loving husband of 54 years Vance Jacobs, Jr. and siblings Lillie Mae Parker, Lida (Nathan) Taulbee, Jerry Byrd, Goldie (Bill) Byrd and Carl Byrd. Jessie leaves behind brother Elvis (Bonnie) Byrd; sister -in-laws Shirley Byrd and Pat Byrd and brother-in-law Bill Parker; three children Cindy (Jack) Mathis of Morrow, Ohio, Vickie (Ronnie) Combs of Morrow, Ohio and Mark Jacobs of South Lebanon, Ohio. Jessie was a wonderful "Nannie" to her six grandchildren - Joi Mathis, Brandi Mathis, Amy (Tony) Ledford, Mindy (Chad) Schmidt, Ryan Combs and Josh (Erika) Sly. Jessie cherished her great-grandchildren Jimmy Mathis, Jessie Bishop, Jacob Mathis, Bella Ledford and Charlie Vance Schmidt whom she loved with all her heart. Jessie was a dedicated member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church of South Lebanon, Ohio and throughout her life has been a faithful servant of the Lord. Jessie loved cooking, gardening and spending time with her numerous nieces, nephews and friends. The family will receive friends Saturday, May 9, 2015 from 11am until 1pm at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church of South Lebanon, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at the church at 1pm with Pastors Arthur McFarland and Jason Faulkner officiating. Burial will follow in the Deerfield Cemetery, South Lebanon, Ohio.
