Obituary of Herchel C. Haddix

HADDIX, Herchel C. age 78 of Lebanon, Ohio passed from this life into his Heavenly Home April 22, 2015. He was born in Lee City, Kentucky September 24, 1936 to Vernie and Mattie (Centers) Haddix. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson Joe (Haddix) Schneider, an infant brother Howard, a sister Joyce (Hobart) Byrd and son-in-law Wayne (Pamela) Vincent. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Janet (Pratt) Haddix; sons Lynn (Mary Jane) of Morrow, Ohio, Wayne (Ginger) Haddix of Lebanon, Ohio and daughter Pamela (Wayne) Vincent of Shelbyville, Tennessee. He also leaves behind grandsons Nakkia, Jeremy and Eric Haddix and Andy and Tyler Shoemaker; granddaughters Christy Cruthis, Jessica Haddix and Katie Vincent; great grandsons Stephen, Kenny, Hunter, Oliver, Westin, Jaxson and Perry; great granddaughters Sierra, Eleanor and Caroline; sisters Verneda (Gerald) Blevins, Vivian (Harold) Ellis and Mary (Jack) Bechtold. Herschel was a faithful member of his church of many years, the First church of God. He was a well known local Bluegrass singer and musician (known by many as "the best rhythm guitar picker in the area"). Shortly before Herchel retired from General Motors, he was given a suggestion award of enough to buy himself the famous "Earl Scruggs Banjo". He will be missed by a host of family and friends too numerous to name. One of whom said, "I never heard a single person say a bad word about Herchel Haddix in my life". He will be lovingly missed by his family and friends. Calling hours will be held Friday evening April 24, 2015 from 5pm until 8pm at the First Church of God, 880 Franklin Road, Lebanon, Ohio. A second visitation will be held Saturday, April 25, 2015 from 12pm until 1pm at the church. Funeral services will be held at the church at 1pm.
