Obituary of George Bennett Hale

HALE, George Bennett age 81 of Lebanon, Ohio passed peacefully Friday evening, April 17, 2015 at his residence with his family by his side. Born October 22, 1933 in Russell County, Virginia, George was the son of Gordon and Virginia Helen (Dickenson) Hale and was a loving husband, father and grandfather. George proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1956 until 1962 and then worked in construction until his retirement. George enjoyed golfing and was a former member of the Lebanon V.F.W. Post 6069. Preceded in death by his parents, wife Tressie Hale, sons Shelton and Sterling Gabbard and brothers Neal, Ira and James Hale; George leaves behind his daughters Tonya Bevins, Sonya Surface and Veronica Surface all of Lebanon, Ohio and Dessie McElfresh of Middletown, Ohio; sisters Madeline McCoy and Frances Rynes both of Castlewood, Virginia; 17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Friends may call on the family Monday evening, April 20, 2015 from 6pm until 8pm at the Stine Kilburn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at 11am. Burial will follow in the Lebanon Cemetery, Lebanon, Ohio.
