Obituary of William E. Mayfield

MAYFIELD, William Eugene age 90 of Cincinnati, Ohio passed peacefully Monday, April 13, 2015 at the Burlington House in Springdale, Ohio with his family by his side. Born August 18, 1924 in Packard, Kentucky, William was the son of Sidney and Mary (Carol) Mayfield and was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. William served his country proudly during World War II in the U.S. Army and retired from Ford Motor Company with 32 years of service. William was a lifelong Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star member, Boy Scout Leader, Demolay, United Auto Workers #863 Member and a lifelong member of the Shriner's. Preceded in death by his parents, seven siblings and granddaughter Mindy Mayfield; William leaves behind his loving wife Mary Ruth (Rowland) Mayfield of Cincinnati, son Michael (Deborah) Mayfield of Cincinnati, Ohio; brother Bob Mayfield of Pikeville; grandchildren Dawn (Matthew) Stamper of Vandalia, Ohio, Jon Mayfield of Waynesville, Ohio and Christopher (Amanda) Mayfield of Waynesville, Ohio; great-grandchildren Serena Mayfield, Darius Mayfield and Zane Michael Mayfield all of Waynesville, Ohio; several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Friday evening, April 17, 2015 from 5pm until 8pm at the Stine Kilburn Funeral Home. There will be an Eastern Star service at the funeral home at 7:15pm followed by a Masonic service at 7:30pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 12pm Saturday, April 18, 2015 with Rev. Dr. Stuart Snow officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Deerfield Cemetery, South Lebanon, Ohio. The family wishes to thank the staff of Vitas Hospice and the Burlington House for their loving care during this very difficult time.
