Obituary of Cathy J. McFarland

McFarland, Cathy J. (nee Showalter) age 50 of Troy, Ohio and formerly of Lebanon, Ohio passed peacefully Thursday evening, April 9, 2015 at the Upper Valley Hospital in Troy, Ohio with her family by her side. Born May 14, 1964 in Cincinnati, Ohio, Cathy was the daughter of Melvin and Virginia (Huffman) Showalter and was a retired Communications Officer with the Warren County Comm Center and former EMT and Firefighter with the Lebanon Division of Fire. During her years of service with the Lebanon Division of Fire, Cathy served as Public Relations Officer and was involved with many other fire department functions. Cathy graduated from the Rio Grande Community College and was a member of the Zeta Theta Chi Sorority. Preceded in death by her father, grandparents and sister Nancy Showalter, Cathy leaves behind her loving daughter Kati McFarland of Troy, Ohio; mother Virginia "Ginny" Showalter of Rio Grande, Ohio; sisters Debbie Showalter of Lebanon, Ohio and Diane (Curtis) Clark of Rio Grande, Ohio and many other family members and friends. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, April 14, 2015 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at the Stine Kilburn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 7:00pm. Burial will be held Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 11:00am in the Tyn Rhos Cemetery in Thurman, Ohio (Gallia County). Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
