Betty Amburgy

Obituary of Betty Amburgy

AMBURGY, Betty Cordell (nee Deaton) (you probably knew her as "Betty Mom") entered eternal life Monday, April 6, 2015. Her sweet spirit is carried on by her daughters - Charlotte (Martin) Jacobson, Teresa (Jerry) Gilmore and Donna (Mike) Price; 6 grandchildren Lee, Justin, Anna, Heather, Matthew and Kelly; 7 great-grandchildren Molly, Logan, Emma, Sofia, Eden, Anna and Lucia; 2 surviving siblings Jerry and Anita and an extended family of relations and friends from many walks of life. We were blessed to learn many valuable life lessons during her 88 years. Betty Mom's parents Cord and Elizabeth Deaton of St. Helens, Lee County, Kentucky welcomed her birth in August of 1926. Growing up in "the hills", she met a handsome young man, Claude Amburgy, who would become her one and only husband of 46 years. Her daughter Phyllis, son Roger and husband Claude who went on before have welcomed her to heaven. Betty Mom invested her life in her family. She was an example of "faithfulness" and that you reap what you sow. She sowed seeds of compassion and love for many years as caregiver for Phyllis and Claude. Betty Mom then reaped a harvest of compassionate care and love from her daughter Donna, her family and the staff of Northpoint Lexington Health Care Center, in particular Tanya Applegate. The funeral service for Betty Mom is scheduled for 11:00am , Friday April 10, 2015 in the chapel at the Stine Kilburn Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Deerfield Cemetery, South Lebanon, Ohio.
