Obituary of Connie Lee Shoop

SHOOP, Connie Lee (nee Horton) age 82 of Lebanon, Ohio went to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 4, 2015. she was born January 22, 1933 in Tipp City, Ohio but lived in Lebanon, Ohio since 1956 when she and her husband "Chuck" who was a new teacher and coach at Lebanon High School moved to Lebanon. Connie was a devoted mother and grandmother. she loved Lebanon and was a big fan of the Warriors. She was a charter member of the Resurrection Lutheran Church and served there on council, various ministries including Interfaith Hospitality, taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Connie was a Campfire Girls Leader for both of her daughter's groups and a Cub Scout Den Mother for her son. She received the highest adult award given to a leader in Campfire Girls. she served as a volunteer youth advisor at her church for over twenty years. She was the President of Operation Orange Ribbon during the Desert Storm War in Iraq to support our troops when her son was serving there with the Army 82nd Airbourne. Connie enjoyed serving as a volunteer at the Ft. Ancient Museum by helping to take school groups through and received an award for her volunteer work there in 2012. She loved her family, church, writing stories and working with people and cooking for her friends and family with love. Connie and her husband "Chuck" ran several businesses over the years in Lebanon - the Bureau of Credit Control, W. F. Bishop Tax and Accounting Office and Ehler Real Estate. She later was employed ten years for Hasselbring and Associates and then eighteen years for Tri-Health in Cincinnati retiring at the age of 75. She was preceded in death by her oldest daughter Cindy. She is survived by her son Thomas and grandsons Blade and Lance Shoop of Sanford, North Carolina; her daughter Ann Neville and children Charlie and Connie Ann Neville of Lebanon, Ohio and grandchildren Andrea Potts and Daniel (Silvia) Potts of Lebanon and great-grandchildren Enoch Fritts, Eli and Eden Potts and Eyan. Connie loved the Lord and tried to serve Him throughout her life. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. The family will receive friends Sunday, March 8, 2015 from 9:30am until 11:30am at the Resurrection Lutheran Church, Lebanon, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at the church at 11:30am with interment to follow in the Lebanon Cemetery. Any donations or memorial gifts may be made to the Resurrection Lutheran Church.
