Obituary of Charles Stephens

STEPHENS, Charles Franklin "Charlie" age 67 of Lebanon, Ohio passed peacefully Monday afternoon September 12, 2011at the Dayton VA Medical Center with his family by his side following a hard-fought battle with cancer. Born July 10, 1944 at the Blair Brothers Hospital in Lebanon, Ohio, Charlie was the son of Ermon and Ruth (Fattig) Stephens and a lifelong resident of Lebanon, Ohio. Charlie was a high school graduate and attended school in Lebanon and Harveysburg. Charlie was a proud U.S. Air Force Veteran of Vietnam and an Auctioneer, Realtor and Horseman by trade. He was a member of the Lebanon VFW Post 6069, Eagles Lodge #1395, Elks Lodge #422 and the Lebanon Masonic Lodge/Scottish Rite. Over the years, Charlie was a well known regular at Mom's Restaurant in Red Lion and Frisch's in Lebanon. Charlie also enjoyed a lifetime of horses and his special horse of JOY...DOLLY. Preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Charlie leaves behind his loving wife Marjolaine (Veutour) Stephens of Lebanon, Ohio, son Brian (Jamie) Stephens, daughter Cheryl Lynn (Tim) Beatty of Miamisburg, brother James (Mary Lou) Stephens of Lebanon, Ohio; two grandchildren Jessica (Justin) Roddy and Payton Stephens, special friend Wayne Colwell and many friends and neighbors. Friends may call on the family Thursday evening, September 15, 2011 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at the Stine Kilburn Funeral Home. A Masonic Service is scheduled for 7:30pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Friday, September 16, 2011 at 11:00am with Pastor Bill Lamb officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Springboro Cemetery, Springboro, Ohio. The family has requested that memorial donations in Charlie's name be directed to the Dayton Ohio VA Medical Center, 4100 West Third Street, Dayton, Ohio 45428. Charlie's family also wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the Dayton VA Medical Center for their loving care and compassion during this very difficult time.
