Obituary of Ethel Stevens

STEVENS, Ethel Jane (Nee Jones) age 89 of Lebanon, Ohio passed peacefully Friday, July 29, 2011 at the Otterbein Retirement Community just outside of Lebanon, Ohio. Born January 26, 1922 in Van Wert County, Ohio, Ethel was the daughter of Idris and Elzora (Golliff) Jones and was a 1959 graduate of the University of Arkansas where she earned her degree in Elementary Education. Prior to moving to the Otterbein Retirement Community, Ethel had lived in Maryland and had taught kindergarten for 26 years. Ethel was a loving and devoted wife for 67 years to Harold Stevens and a wonderful mother and grandmother. Ethel enjoyed square dancing, teaching Sunday School, church activities and crafts. Preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold Stevens in 2010, sons Wayne Alan Stevens and Roger Paul Stevens and brother David Roger Jones; Ethel leaves behind her daughter-in-law Linda Stevens of Franklin, Ohio and grandsons Sean (Erin) Stevens of Beavercreek, Ohio and Wayne David Stevens of Centerville, Ohio; great grandson Erik Stevens and many other family members and friends. The family would like to thank the nurses, aides and staff of Asbury Hall Otterbein for the wonderful care and love they gave to Ethel Jane. Friends may call on the family Tuesday, August 2, 2011 from 10:00am until 11:00am at the Otterbein Retirement Community Chapel. Funeral services will be held at the chapel at 11:00am with Reverend James Ludwick officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church Cemetery in New Richmond, Ohio.
