Obituary of Edna Hogan

HOGAN, Edna M. (nee Bowman) age 95 of Morrow, Ohio passed peacefully Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at Bethesda North Hospital in Montgomery, Ohio. Born May 10, 1916 in Lee County, Kentucky, Edna was the daughter of Alex and Cora (Coomer) Bowman and was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Edna attended the First Church of God in South Lebanon, Ohio and was a member of the Eastern Star in Kentucky and Ohio. Edna was an accomplished seamstress and well known for her quilting. The South Lebanon School House Quilt Show was established in her honor exhibiting 56 quilts made by Edna at the inaugural show. Preceded in death by her parents, husbands Rouster Browning and Johnny Hogan, son Jimmy Browning, daughter Joyce Ann Pitts, brothers Walker, Chester, Henry, Hugh, Homer and Jim Bowman, sisters Georgia Igo, Margaret Metcalf, Gracie Browning and Betty Louder and one grandchild; Edna leaves behind son Alex Wilson Browning, daughter Mary Alice (Richard) Pare, daughter-in-law Louise Combs-Browning and son-in-law Sandy Pitts, seven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Friends may call on the family Friday evening, June 3, 2011 from 6:00pm until 7:30pm at the Stine Kilburn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 7:30pm with Reverend Mike Cornett officiating. A second visitation will be held Saturday, June 4, 2011 from 1:00pm until 2:00pm at the Newman Funeral Home, Beattyville, Kentucky with burial following in the Browning Cemetery, Hope Road, Beattyville, Kentucky.
