Obituary of Albert Shepherd
SHEPHERD, Albert E. "Al" age 89 of South Lebanon, Ohio passed peacefully Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at his home with his family by his side. Born May 21, 2011 in Holmes, Mississippi, Al was the son of Robert and Lillie (Black) Shepherd and was a highly regarded public servant and a great Patriot. Al was a proud U.S. Army Veteran of World War II followed by a continued career in the U.S. Army retiring after 26 years at the rank of Master Sargeant. Upon retirement, Al relocated to South Lebanon, Ohio in the mid 60's and served as Village Chief of Police, two terms as Mayor of South Lebanon and was the Court Administrator of the Warren County Probate-Juvenile Court for many years. A former member of the South Lebanon United Methodist Church, Al was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, a true southern gentleman and a friend to all who knew him. Preceded in death by his parents, first wife Ella Shepherd and son Larry Shepherd; Al leaves behind his loving wife Margaret (McCoy) Shepherd and son Robert Shepherd both of South Lebanon, Ohio; daughter Brenda Toler of Middletown, Ohio; brother Sam Shepherd and sister Martha Kirkwood both of Mississippi; grandchildren Erica and Bobby Shepherd, Shannon Wichterman, Amy Melton, Rodney Leath and Linda McIntosh; great-grandchildren Cory, Carli and Carter Wichterman and many other family members and friends.
Friends may call on the family Sunday, April 24, 2011 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the Stine Kilburn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 25, 2011 at 11:00am at the funeral home with Pastor Steve Tufts officiating. Burial with full military honors will be presented by the Mason VFW Memorial Team.
