Obituary of Virgie Smith
SMITH, Virgie (nee Lamb) age 86 of Lebanon, Ohio passed peacefully Monday, March 28, 2011 at Bethesda Arrowsprings. Born May 6, 1924 in Berea, Kentucky, Virgie was the daughter of Carus and Allie Lamb and a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Virgie was a devoted Christian, a member of the Lebanon Church of God for over 50 years, a retired cook with the Lebanon City Schools and an avid Cincinnati Reds fan. Virgie enjoyed writing poetry, keeping a journal, spending time with her grandchildren and loved her cat Missy. Preceded in death by her parents, husband James Ray Smith in 1990, brothers Floyd and Carl Lamb and sister Ethel Metcalf, Virgie leaves behind her son Carl James Smith and daughter Barbara (Jim) Daughtery both of Lebanon, Ohio; sister Helen Times of California; former daughter-in-law Tonya Supinger; special cousin Audrey Penrod; grandchildren Tammy, Susan and Tim Stroud and David, Bryan and Angie Smith; great-grandchildren Ricky and Brent Stroud, Miranda and Derek Loesche, Logan Jenks, Mackenzie, Ashton and Julia Smith and many other loving nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Friends may call on the family Friday, April 1, 2011 from 12:00pm until 1:00pm at the Lebanon Church of God located on North Broadway. Funeral services will be held at the church at 1:00pm with Dr. Roland Pendley and Reverend Carl Cowgill officiating. Burial will follow in the Lebanon Cemetery.
