Obituary of Barbara Duncan

DUNCAN, Barbara Jean (nee Goforth) age 81 of Lebanon, Ohio went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, Ocotber 6, 2010 after an extended illness. She was born to George and Helen (Stone) Goforth August 12, 1929 in Bessemer, Alabama. Siblings include Shirley Tallon of Lebanon, Ohio; the late Buddy Goforth, Sr. and the late Patricia Salmon. Barbara married Lance Duncan in 1950. During the fifty year marriage, they had five children William (Deborah) Duncan of Middletown, Ohio, Larry (Shirley) Duncan of Indianapolis, Indiana, Gary (JoAnn) Duncan of Lebanon, Ohio, Robin (Gary) Conger of Lebanon, Ohio and David (Alison) Duncan of Fairfield Township, Ohio. Grandhildren include Michael Duncan, Lance Duncan, Sarah Elam, Cheryl Unversaw, Heather Collins, Nathan Duncan, Christopher Conger and Zack Duncan and ten great-grandchildren. From 1950 until 1972, Lance and Barbara lived in Middletown, Ohio. In 1972, they moved to Independence, Kentucky where Barbara worked at Beech Grove Elemetary for twenty-six years as the school`s baker. Also during that time, Lance and Barbara were faithful members of the Florence Baptist Temple. In 1977, Lance and Barbara retired and moved to Lebanon, Ohio to be closer to their family. Barbara loved to read, crochet and spend time with her family. She was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Middletown, Ohio. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lance Duncan, son Gary Duncan, brother Buddy Goforth, Sr. and sister Patricia Salmon. Friends may call on the family Monday evening, October 11, 2010 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the STINE Kilburn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at 1:00pm with Pastor Roger Green officiating. Burial will follow in the Grace Memorial Gardens, Middletown, Ohio. The family has requested that memorial donations be directed to the Middletown Christian Schools, Middletown, Ohio.
