Obituary of Dorothy McCarthy

McCARTHY, Dorothy Valentine (nee Dolman) age 95 of Lebanon, Ohio passed peacefully Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Hospice fo Butler and Warren Counties with her family by her side. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 64 years Tom McCarthy and sisters Edith Dolman and Elsie Bell. She is survived by her daughter Diane (Danny) Ulrich of Lebanon, Ohio; grandchildren Cody (Karen) Wilson, Ryan Ulrich and Rani (Bruce) Wieand, great-grandchildren Kyle, Claire and Carlie Wilson and longtime friend Hilda Meyers of Loveland, Ohio. Born in England, Dorothy met her husband Tom (a U.S. soldier) during WWII while he was stationed in England. They were married in Wales on D-Day and three days later Tom was shipped out to Normandy. Dorothy made the trip to the United States and arrived in New York on April Fools Day! Together, Dorothy and Tom lived in Loveland, Ohio for 65 years. Dorothy was well known for rescuing dogs, cats and any other animal that needed help. She leaves behind 7 cats who now reside with her daughter. A memorial service will be held in honor of her life at St. Patricks Episcopal Church, 232 East Main Street, Lebanon, Ohio Friday, June 6, 2014 at 11:00am. Dorothy's cremains will return to England to be scattered in the blue bells.
