Obituary of Benjamin Bell

Benjamin Arthur Bell, age 79, beloved husband of 60 years of Wilma Jean (Hoy) Bell, passed away suddenly at his home December 7, 2013. Father of Greg (Barbara) Bell, Debra (Ed) Scarborough & David (Sandra) Bell. Grandfather of Kelli (Jason) Sobota; Matthew Bell; Ami(Marcus) Robinson; Jason Bell and Jordan Bell. Great Grandfather of Jason Sobota, Jr. and Mia Belle Robinson. Ben was born in Waynesburg, Pa., the son of Judson and Mary Bell and was the last surviving sibling of 10 children - brothers Judson, Frank, Bill, Jack, James, George, Louise, Elizabeth and Ruth. He graduated from Waynesburg High School in 1952. Ben was a proud member of the USMC where he served in the 2nd Marine Air Wing. He is a Lifetime Member of the USMC League. In 1972 the family moved from Renova, Pa. to Lebanon due to a transfer of his job from Dominion Resources. He also worked at Sumitoma Sitix Silicon Inc. until his retirement in l997. He loved to fly and obtained his solo license, but due to his health was not able to continue. Ben enjoyed good music and every Saturday evening at 7:00 was reserved to watching the Lawrence Welk Show. He enjoyed sports and coached his boys in Little League Baseball and Basketball. He continued to attend his grandchildren's games whenever possible. He was a Member of the Lebanon Presbyterian Church where he also enjoyed working as a volunteer for the Lebanon Presbyterian Church Upward Basketball league. He will be remembered for his carefree personality and his willingness to help others. Ben loved and was loved very much by his family and will be greatly missed.In lieu of flowers, if desired, donations may be made to the Marine Corps League, P. O. Box 8315, Merrifield, VA 22116-8035 or the Dayton Children's Hospital, 1 Children's Plaza, Dayton, OH 45404. Family will receive friends at 10:00 until 12 noon on Wednesday, December the 11th with services to follow at the Lebanon Presbyterian Church. Stine Kilburn Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
