Obituary of Virginia Powell

POWELL, Virginia Lee (nee Dozier) age 88 of Middletown, Ohio went to her heavenly home Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at Hospice of Butler & Warren Counties with her family by her side. Virginia was born May 8, 1925 in Estill County, Kentucky and was preceded in death by her parents Farley and Ada Dozier, husband Lawrence Powell, sisters Vivian Anderson and Hazel Luster and brothers Farley Dozier Jr. and James Dozier. Viginia was the oldest of seven sisters and two brothers. She married her late husband Lawrence Powell December 6, 1943 in Butler County, Ohio. Virginia is survived by sons Larry (JoAnn) Powell of Lebanon, Ohio and Gary Powell of Albertville, Alabama; daughter Sondra (Rick) Smith of Middletown, Ohio; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild. Virginia was happiest when surrounded by her family. Virginia had a great sense of humor, liked to crochet, knit, sew, embroider and was always making something until her health prevented these activities. Virginia was a member of the Dodds Pentecostal Church, Dodds, Ohio for 53 years. Receiving of friends will be held Friday, December 6, 2013 from 10:30am until 12:30pm at the Stine Kilburn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 12:30pm with Pastor Ron Boyd and Pastor Fred Napier officiating. Interment will follow in the Miami Valley Memory Gardens, Centerville, Ohio.
