Obituary of Doris Freeman

FREEMAN, Doris age 92 of Lebanon, Ohio passed peacefully Saturday morning, June 15, 2013 at her home. Born November 5, 1920 in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, Doris was the daughter of Garfield and Annie (Bunnell) Freeman and was a loving daughter, sister and aunt. Doris was the Valedictorian of the Harrodsburg High School Class of 1937 and telephone operator (during the days of operator connected calls and party lines), then office manager at the United Telephone Company in Lebanon, Ohio. Doris was a member of the Oregonia Homemakers Club and the Oregonia-Harveysburg United Methodist Church. For many of her career years at the United Telephone Company, Doris lived in downtown Lebanon, Ohio and frequented the Golden Lamb, Best Cafe and the Village Ice Cream Parlor. Doris truly loved her community and lived in Lebanon since she was 17 years old. Preceded in death by her parents, brother Willard, Dudley and Claude and sisters Jenny, Verna and Mary ("Pete"), Doris leaves behind her special nephew Gerald (Janet) Freeman and many other family members and friends. Graveside services will be held Thursday, June 20, 2013 at 11:00am in the Spring HIll Cemetery in Harrodsburg, Kentucky.
