Obituary of Alonzo William Race

RACE, Alonzo W. age 89 of South Lebanon, Ohio passed away peacefully Friday, January 24,2020 at his home surrounded by his family. Alonzo was born November 18, 1930 in Grant County, Kentucky the son of William and Nora (nee: Buckley) Race. Alonzo owned his own excavating business and retired from Warren Correctional Institution were he worked in maintenance. He loved spending time with his kids and family, going camping and deer hunting. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of South Lebanon and the Lebanon Masonic Lodge. Preceded in death by his parents; his wife Lucille in 2018; daughter Sheila Campbell; brother Buford Race; and sisters Loretta Myers and Katherine Bailey. Alonzo leaves behind son Christopher (Vickie) Race of South Lebanon; daughters Rhonda (Theron) Southwick of Maineville, and Michele Race of South Lebanon; 7 grandchildren; 8 greatgrandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; as well as many other family members and friends. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 30, 2020 from 6pm to 8pm at the First Baptist Church of South Lebanon. Funeral services will be Friday, January 31, 2020 with Masonic Services beginning at 11am at the church. Interment to follow in Deerfield Cemetery, South Lebanon. Pastor Dave Frasure officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund in Alonzo's memory.
