Obituary of Bernice M Poe

POE, Bernice M. (nee Carpenter) age 94 of Lebanon passed away peacefully Sunday, March 10, 2019. Born to Arthur J. and Pearl (nee: York) Carpenter on July 09, 1924 in Kenvir, Ky. Her family moved to Ohio in 1931, and she graduated from Kings High School in 1942. Bernice was a homemaker and wife of 50 years supporting her husband during his terms as Mayor of South Lebanon. Bernice worked for 30 years on the Board of Elections, as well as a substitute teacher and a Clerk for the South Lebanon Water Works. Bernice was also a member of the Union Township Womens Auxilliary, Daughters of the American Revolution and the Ridgeville Homemakers Club. She also enjoyed cooking and baking for her friends and family.

Bernice is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Rollie Poe, sisters Doris Halcomb and Edna Taylor, and her brother Julian Carpenter. 

She is survived by her sister, Lois Combs of Lebanon, brother Phillip Terry (Helen) Carpenter of Carlisle, daughter Claudia Blevins of Waynesville, son Donald (Donna) Poe of Morrow, daughter Kathy (Randall) Tanner of Michigan, daughter Krista (Bill) Kerr of Lebanon, ten grandchildren, Eric, Scott, Amy, Lee, Jason, Jennifer, Julie, Tyler, Lucas, Ian, and six great-grandchildren.

The family will recieve friends Wednesday, March 13, 2019 from 11 am to time of service at 1pm, all at the Stine-Kilburn Funeral Home. Interment to follow in Deerfield Cemetery in South Lebanon. Pastor Phillip Terry Carpenter officiating.
