Obituary of George Arthur Strain
George A. Strain, a long time resident of Sun Lakes in Banning, California, died peacefully on Friday, June 22, 2018, at the age of 86 from causes incident to age.
George is survived by his companion of nearly 40 years, Barbara Strona, his siblings, John R. Strain, James W. Strain, Raymond Strain, Patricia Lay, his children, Alan Douglas Strain, Darla Ann Strain, Kimberly Sue Pyle, his grandchildren and great grandchildren, Kyle Paxton, Roxanne Kirkland, Krystle Richard, Michelle Pyle, Ryan Strain, Natalie Pyle, Sky Paxton, Lily Paxton, Kourtney Strain-Pierson, Alyssa Daniel, Cali Richard and William Pyle.
George was born in Lebanon, Ohio on April 30, 1932 to John and Louanna Strain. He served in the US Air Force from 1951-1956 and was a proud veteran. George completed the Manufacturing Corporate Strategy and Executive Education Program of the Harvard Business School in 1978 and worked for Phillips Industries as the Vice President of Sales for 30 years. He was also a proud member of the Masonic Lodge in Lebanon, Ohio.
George was a devoted companion, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He enjoyed traveling with his companion, Barbara Strona, golfing and spending time with loved ones. He felt great joy living in a golf community and won the Men’s Golf Championship at Sun Lakes Golf Club in 2011.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, July 5, 2018 from 11am until 1pm at the Stine Kilburn Funeral Home. A Masonic Service will be held 20 minutes prior to the funeral service at 1pm with Pastor Steve Tufts officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be held in the Deerfield Cemetery, South Lebanon, Ohio.
