Obituary of Joyce A. Hughes

HUGHES, Joyce A. (nee Schaffer) age 70 of South Lebanon, Ohio passed peacefully January 10, 2018 at the West Chester Medical Center.  Born September 6, 1947 in Loveland, Ohio, Joyce was the daughter of Herbert and Ida (nee Berry) Schaffer and was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  Many may remember Joyce from her years of employment at Cedars of Lebanon and Lebanon City Schools where she worked as a dietician.  She primarily worked at Holbrook and Louisa Wright Schools and knew all the students by name!  During her spare time, Joyce enjoyed sewing, watching the Cincinnati Reds (especially Joey Votto) and spending time with her family.  Preceded in death by her parents, brother Herbert Schaffer and brother-in-law Charles Johnson; Joyce leaves behind her loving hsuband Theordore "Ted" Hughes of South Lebanon, Ohio; sons John (Susan) of Pleasant Plain, Jerry (Melissa) of Goshen and Gary (Nicole) of Turtlecreek Township, daughter Ida (Aaron) Hoover of Clearcreek Township; brothers Charles Schaffer, Rick Schaffer and Stanley Kroner; sisters Sylvia Johnson and Betty Nichols; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 17, 2018 from 11am until time of service at 1pm all at Stine Kilburn Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in the Miami Cemetery, Corwin, Ohio.
