His father bought acreage on Monroe road west of where Bypass 48 is now located and farmed for a number of years. In 1948, Chuck graduated from Lebanon High School. He joined the Marine Corps shortly thereafter and was stationed in Japan for his tour of duty. Upon returning to the states, Chuck enrolled at Bowling Green State University graduating with a BSBA in 1957. Chuck joined the Marathon Oil Company working in Lima/Findlay area before transferring to the greater Cincinnati area and retiring after 26 years. He was an avid Golfer, enjoying many great wins and losses at Harmon Golf Course with his Marine buddy Jim Wiekert. Although Chuck had been battling bone cancer for the last eight months, he always believed it was the quality of life, not life, that matters. As various issues developed, life became far less quality and slipped away.
