Obituary of John Glenn McCandless

McCandless, John Glenn age 91 of Lebanon, Ohio passed peacefully May 24, 2017 at the Atrium Medical Center.  Born January 8, 1926 in Franklin, Ohio, John was the son of Les and Myrtle (nee Skinner) McCandless and was a loving husband, father and grandfather.  John was a proud U.S. Army Veteran and a local farmer.  John had also been employed with over 20 years of service at the Otterbein Retirement Community where he worked in Maintenance.  During his spare time, John enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family.   Preceded in death by his parents, loving wife Hattie Pauline (nee Stewart) in 1976, brother Tom McCandless and sisters Elva and Amy; John leaves behind his three sons Larry McCandless of Springfield, Ohio, Paul (Tina) McCandless of Lebanon, Ohio and Doug (Shelley) McCandless of Lebanon, Ohio; sisters Frieda of Texas and Alice of Franklin, Ohio; grandchildren John and Branden McCandless, Cheri Trampler, Megan Walsh, Chad McCandless, Jill McCandless and Ethan McCandless; eight great-grandchildren and many other family members and friends.  The family will receive friends Friday, June 2, 2017 from 11:30am until 1:30pm at the Stine Kilburn Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held at 1:30pm at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Pendergrass officiating.  Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Miami Cemetery, Corwin, Ohio.
